Sag Harbor Cinema (SHC) had hoped to open its doors on Saturday, April 11, but unfortunately that momentous occasion had to be postponed. Instead, the Cinema is holding a "Virtual Opening" and streaming an assortment of first run films and restored classics.

To represent each screen of the Sag Harbor Cinema, SHC has selected three movies that will be available to screen on www.sagharborcinema.org from Friday, April 10 through Thursday, April 23.

"These titles reflect only a small portion of the films we'll be able to present once the Cinema is open," SHC artistic director Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan. "But I still wanted the selection to reflect nuance, and a certain range. Nothing matches the big screen experience but this 'virtual opening' seemed a good way to stay in touch with our audience, as we have been doing through the Movie of the Week column."

The first three films will include Bruno Barreto's Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (Brazil, 1976, 117mins; In Portuguese with English subtitles), Mark Bozek's The Times of Bill Cunningham (USA, 2020, 74mins), and Diao Yinan's The Wild Goose Lake (China, France 2019, 111mins; In Chinese with English subtitles).

On Sunday, April 19, SHC will host their inaugural collaboration with Cinema Tropical - a conversation with director Bruno Barreto and D'Agnolo Vallan. The discussion will stream live on Sag Harbor Cinema's Facebook page (www.facebook.com) at 5 p.m.

"I am also thrilled to include in this initiative our first collaboration with Cinema Tropical, who will be co-presenting a conversation with Bruno Barreto, director of Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands," D'Agnolo Vallan added.

Virtual tickets range from $9 to $12.
