Over Fourth of July weekend, the Sag Harbor Historical Society will present its "The Point" Gala, hosted by Marni and Stuart Hersch. The soiree will take place at The Point House in Sag Harbor on Friday July 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sandra Foschi and Bill Evans, owners of Sag Harbor's radio station (WLNG 92.1 FM), will serve as the evening's honorary chairs.

"In these times of change, the mission of the Sag Harbor Historical Society is paramount," Nancy Remkus, SHHS trustee, reflected. "We work to preserve the unique history of this beautiful village and help to carry its torch into the future."

The Gala will recognize many outstanding citizens. For example, Emma Walton and Stephen Hamilton will be honored for all their hard work and dedication put into shaping the Bay Street Theater. While Stephen Breitenbach will be acknowledged for his job of renovating The Point House, and Chris Denon and John Battle will be celebrated for their refurbishment of the adored Sag Harbor movie theater sign.

John Bjornen, Susan & Stephen Breitenbach, Tricia and Ed Burke, Jr., Bob Chaloner & Oscar Mandes, Samantha & Timothy Culver, Pia & Gregory Ferraris, Stan Glinka & Mark Masone, April Gornik & Eric Fischl, Eric Hensley & Bob Weinstein, Kathryn & Gavin Menu, William Pickens III, Mala & Mayor Jeff Sander, Mayor Sandra Schroeder, Sidney Stark, Lyn & E.T. Williams, and Christina & Donald Zacharia will serve as "The Point" Gala Event Chairpersons.

The Sag Harbor Historical Society's mission is to encourage the public to educate themselves about the Village of Sag Harbor's history. Home to two historic sits, the museum in Sag Harbor and the 1916 jailhouse, the Historical Society works to maintain historical buildings, sites and other resources throughout Sag Harbor.

"This Gala will be a wonderful opportunity to help with this mission and enjoy the company of community members and visitors that share in this quest," Remkus added. "It is sure to be a beautiful evening to remember."

Tickets to the historic gala event are $150.
