One of the most anticipated events of the East End summer, Sylvestor Manor's eighth annual Farm to Table Benefit, will take place on Saturday, June 29. The annual soiree will be held on the historic property of Shelter Island's 1651 farm.

The benefit celebrates community, food and culture, and will raise money to support programs and produce, manufactured by the Sylvestor Manor property.

"We've been working hard on improving Farm to Table this year and look forward to making this one of our best events yet," said Stephen Searl, Executive Director of Sylvester Manor. "Instead of having a formal sit down dinner, the event will be an extended cocktail party located creekside. It will feature a wide assortment of delicious East End specialty hors d'oeuvres, meats and sides, refreshing cocktails and wine from local vineyards, great music and a new silent auction."

For music, Brian Ripps, singer, songwriter and guitarist, along with various New York City musicians will be performing. While the silent auction will allow attendees to purchase various Shelter Island experiences - such as sailing excursions and local dining experiences.

As for bites, Sylvestor Manor has enlisted renowned North Fork caterer Plated Simply who will create an extraordinary farm to table experience showcasing local Long Island products, including vegetables harvested from the Farm's Windmill Field.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Cocktails and Canapés, followed by Small Plates - including East End specialty carving stations - at 8 p.m.

Tickets to the Farm to Table Benefit start at $575.

"Come join us as we watch the sun set over historic Gardiner's Creek and dance the night away...all in support of Sylvester Manor Educational Farm," Searl added.

The Sylvestor Manor property contains an enormous amount of history. Once a Native American hunting and fishing ground, this farm was also home to eleven different generations of a European family. Additionally, over time the property underwent various transitions. It began as a slaveholding plantation, then an enlightenment era farm, following a food industrialist's home, and today an educational farm. Sylvester Manor's mission is "to preserve, cultivate and share historic Sylvester Manor to ensure that food and art remain connected to community and the land."

Sylvester Manor is located at 80 North Ferry Road in Shelter Island. To purchase tickets for the benefit, call 631-749-0626 or visit www.sylvestermanor.org.
