Springs Community Presbyterian Church is paying homage to all things Springs during Celebrate Springs, a family and community event, on Saturday, June 1.

Taking place from 12 to 4 p.m., the afternoon will feature kid-friendly activities, demonstrations by local businesses and organizations, a raffle with exciting prizes, vendor booths showcasing artisans and groups, and live local entertainment, and more.

The festive gathering will also serve as the kick off for the "SOS - Save Our Steeple" Campaign, a long-term capital improvement project.

"We are thrilled to kick off our fundraising campaign to help 'Save Our Steeple' at the Springs Community Presbyterian Church," Wendy Hall, Clerk of the Springs Community Presbyterian Church, noted. "This will be a major, long term effort with a goal to begin construction to coincide with the Church's 140th anniversary in 2022."

Several local businesses and organizations are pitching in to champion the cause and offer their support during the fundraiser, including Hamptons Farmstead, Aqua Dog Den, Bonac Bees, Harbor Bistro, Hamptons Handpoured, Hamptons International Film Festival, Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, Quail Hill Farm, Salt Hampton, Springs EMT & Fire Department, Springs Library, Springs Food Pantry, Springs School, Springs Community Groups and more. There will also be complimentary face-painting and youth fitness activities for kids.

"Celebrate Springs is going to a such a fun day, and an incredible representation of the amazing spirit, history and community that is our beloved Springs," Annie Balliro, of Hamptons Farmstead, and event co-founder, reflected. "For sure, it is a 'not to miss' event for families, kids and everyone really, as the line up of activities, demonstrations and music is amazing! It's an honor for Hamptons Farmstead to participate along side such a passionate, creative, hard working group of organizations and individuals who work tirelessly to live, work and protect our very special hamlet."

The Church's Steeple renovation will start at the ground, literally, with the foundation, and work its way up to the top of the historic weather vane that sits on top of the steeple.

"Founded on July 17, 1882, our Church is in need of this major repair, from the 'ground up,' as it has been a central support system for our Springs community on a daily basis since that time," Hall explained. "We are overwhelmed by the support of so many local businesses, organizations and individuals to help protect and preserve this iconic beacon in our Springs community."

Celebrate Springs live entertainment will be headlined by The Waylan Brothers (Classic Rock to Blues & Jazz) at 12 p.m., Ken Samuelson (Blues, Country & Folk) at 1 p.m., Seaside Strummers (Ukulele Band and Singers) at 2 p.m., Liberatore-Potter-Tekulsky Trio (Country-roots Americana) at 2:30 p.m., and Peter Van Scoyac (Songs of the East End) at 3:30 p.m.

Admission to Celebrate Springs is $10 person and all proceeds will support the "SOS - Save our Steeple" fund. Children will receive a "Celebrate Springs" bag featuring take home activities and crafts made on site.

Springs Community Presbyterian Church is located at 5 Old Stone Highway (at Springs Fireplace Road). For more information, or to donate to the "SOS - Save our Steeple," www.springspc.org.
