A shopping fête that attracts attendees from the Hamptons, Manhattan, Connecticut, and even Palm Beach will take place on Saturday, June 1. The highly anticipated 27th annual Decorators-Designers-Dealers
Sale and Auction Benefit Gala (D-D-D), held in support of Southampton Fresh Air Home
's 118th year of camp for physically challenged children, will showcase extraordinary live, silent and wine auctions and a wonderful home furnishings and antiques sale.
"The D-D-D sale and auction, now in its 27th year, allows us to offer year-round programs and opportunities for physically challenged youth and young adults without regard to a family's ability to pay," Charlotte Bonstrom Assaf, Southampton Fresh Air Home Board member and D-D-D co-chair, with Jeff Lincoln, relayed. "This year, we have a very special donation, a meet and greet with Sir Paul McCartney
for four people at one of his remaining Freshen Up tour dates."
The auctions will offer something for everyone, covering everything from the top names in fashion to jewelry to travel to fine dining to entertainment to sports to health and beauty, and more. Wine connoisseurs won't want to miss the auction, which includes a collection that any private collector would be proud to have in their home. There will also be a myriad of marvelous furniture available, that ranges from rare antiques, to gently used and new home furnishings, as well as designer furniture, lamps, paintings, framed prints, fabrics, decorative accessories and much, much more.
"The D-D-D is one of the first events of the summer season in Southampton," she noted. "Our fast paced furniture sale, which takes place in eight buildings on our campus, is such a unique experience allowing guests to shop and purchase beautiful antiques and decorator items at incredible prices. Guests line up hours in advance to have first access to the treasures that are offered."
The D-D-D will begin with a preview for benefactor patrons at 5 p.m. and. the event closes at 8:30 p.m.
This annual benefit raises approximately 40 percent of the not-for-profit residential camp's annual operating budget. SFAH's mission is to provide an enriching, recreational camping experience and the organization is "committed to helping campers develop physically, emotionally, and educationally, with the goal of fostering self-esteem, maturity and independence through a broadly balanced program, while providing their families with a well-deserved respite." Events like the D-D-D allow SFAH to serve all, as 70 percent of campers benefit from SFAH financial aid.
"Young people with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, spina bifida and muscular dystrophy face great difficulty in accessing recreational and social opportunities," Bonstrom Assaf added. "Youth who require assistance with activities of daily living encounter a gauntlet of logistics when seeking such opportunities."
