Kent Animal Shelter is celebrating the holidays by opening its doors for a very merry Holiday Open House and Adoption Event on Saturday, December 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"Come join us at Kent Animal Shelter's Holiday Open House and Adoption Event," Pam Green, Kent Animal Shelter Director, relayed.

The seasonal gathering will bring out several very special guests. "Many new pets for adoption and Santa will be in the house!" Green shared. And yes, there will be the chance for pet pics with the man of the season.

During the Holiday Open House, the Kent holiday tent will boast complimentary homemade goodies, hot chocolate and cider, a Kent pet boutique, and seasonal holiday raffle.

For those that can't make it, you can spread a little holiday cheer by donating to Kent's holiday challenge. Two generous donors have offered to match $22,000 in donations if the animal shelter, who is up over 200 additional rescues/adoptions over last year, can raise the funds by the end of the year.

"This year's matching gift challenge gives our friends and supporters the opportunity to double their life-saving impact because their donation will be matched if up to $22,000 is made by December 31st," Green explained.

Kent, who is celebrating 50 years, is a Calverton-based shelter that provides a no-kill refuge for homeless, abused and abandoned animals as they await their forever homes.
