The Fourth Annual Songwriters Share Concert Series - a series that gives back to the community - continues on Friday, March 2 with singer/songwriter Caroline Doctorow who will be joined by members of her band, and a special opening act.

For those unfamiliar with the performances, along with headlining an incredible intimate show, the featured musician partners with a local charity who they share a portion of the evening's proceeds with. Doctorow has selected The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center.

"This will be a great night of music as Caroline takes a break from touring the country and joins her full band for a hometown concert!" shared Nancy Remkus, who curates the series. "Two fiddle players will keep our toes tapping. Caroline will be playing to benefit the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center right up the road from the concert venue."

Doctorow's latest album, Dreaming in Vinyl, reached #2 on the folk radio airplay charts. Overall, she has released 11 solo albums, and is also responsible for the first retrospective of the work of '60s folk icons Richard and Mimi Fariņa titled Another Country - which received critical acclaim.

"Caroline Doctorow has been responsible for some of the sweetest songs of the modern folk idiom," lauded No Depression Magazine.

The musician was recently awarded Long Island Arts Council's The Alexander Award and an official New York State Proclamation from State Senator John E. Brooks, recognizing her accomplished resume as a folksinger.

Her songs have been featured on soundtracks on both the large and small screen, and she will appear in Christopher Lucas' film If I Had a Hammer, which commemorates Pete Seeger's legacy and 100th birthday.

"Opening for Caroline will be Chris Kline playing some of his original songs," Remkus added. "A third grade teacher at Sag Harbor Elementary School, Chris is sure to delight the audience with his warmth and originality!"

Kline, who was born and raised on the East End, performs solo and with his band in the New York area.

The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center was established "out of tragedy in 1949 when a migrant camp fire killed two children of seasonal farm workers." The not-for-profit serves the East End community, with a focus on the lower income African-American and growing Latino community. Its mission is to "deliver the highest quality educational and recreational programs to local children, youth and their families."

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse of the South Fork in Bridgehampton.

General Admission is $20 and $15 for students and senior citizens.

"Please help support this series that gives back to the community," Remkus concluded. "A complimentary wine and cheese reception follows that concert and is a lovely community event." The post-concert soiree will include the chance to mingle with Kline and Doctorow.

After Doctorow, the series continues with Fred Raimondo playing for The Retreat on Friday, April 6, Gene Casey accompanied by Tricia Scotti playing for the Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons on Friday, May 4, and The Songwriters Share Showcase featuring Job Potter, Sarah Azarra, Klyph Black, Sarah Greene, Cynthia Daniels on Friday, June 1.

Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse of the South Fork is located at the 977 Sag Harbor/Bridgehampton Turnpike in Bridgehampton. For more information about the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center, visit www.bhccrc.org.
