The 28th annual Greenport Maritime Festival, presented by the East End Seaport & Marine Foundation in partnership with the Village of Greenport, will launch on Friday, September 22 during the Land & Sea Gala, the annual kick-off soiree, at the grounds of the Greenport Yacht & Shipbuilding Company. The East End Maritime Festival excitement will continue on Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with two days of sensational programming.

"The East End Seaport Museum & Marine Foundation's annual fund-raising Maritime Festival offers something for everyone - children, families and adults of all ages," shared Arlene Klein. "The displays, demonstrations, and activities all help to communicate and celebrate the diverse, dynamic nautical history of Greenport. Saturday's and Sunday's packed schedules are filled with participatory and observational activities designed to entertain, educate and enrich every festival goer."

Saturday's festivities will commence at 11 a.m. with the beloved Maritime Festival parade, led by Grand Marshals are Lisa and Richard Israel.

On both days, artisan vendors and the East End food court will line the streets of Greenport, while Festival activities take over Mitchell Park. Festival offerings will include a FireFighter fireboat demonstration, PirateSchool!, blessing of the waters, flyboard demonstrations, classic vessels - both in the harbor and on land - wood carvers, deep sea ROVs, games and relays for children, live music, artifacts from underwater archeology, Cornell Extension demonstrations, the chance to meet representatives from local non-profit organizations, salt water touch tanks, Bug Light Cruise & Tour, the perennial Kayak Contest, and more.

For the first time ever, the Festival will feature an Events Tent at Mitchell Park, where attendees can hear sea chanteys and tales of underwater adventures from authors and children's poets, acoustic music, and more.

The Festival's final day will begin with a delicious Pirate and Mermaid Breakfast at Front Street Station Restaurant in support of the Paul Drum Nautical Education Program, which provides CPR and lifeguard scholarships for East End high school students, and also offers an eight week series for children ages 7 to 12-years-old. The Maritime Festival will wrap up during a closing ceremony at the amphitheater in Mitchell Park at 5 p.m.

"No one leaves without wonderful memories!" added Klein.

The Maritime Festival is East End Seaport Museum's largest fundraiser. Proceeds support a variety of community programs, lighthouse tours, changing exhibits, activities, and scholarships.
