Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival (BCMF) will continue its BCMF Spring series with the Brentano String Quartet on Saturday, April 1. The concert will take place at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church and begin at 6 p.m.

"We know there is a desire for excellent programming year-round and are thrilled with the response we have received from the community both in concert attendance and philanthropic support," shared Executive Director Michael Lawrence.

The Brentano String Quartet, who is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, will dazzle the BCMF audience for the first time as they enchant the crowd with works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, as well as string quartet arrangements of selections from Bach's Art of the Fugue.

"Generally, what I love about our festival is that we bring in all these people and we put them together and you see what sparks fly and it's always interesting to see the combination of personalities and see how it works," shared BCMF Founder Marya Martin. "But, a string quartet is a very different animal because composers treat a string quartet almost as one instrument. To present string quartets you have to hire a group that's been together for a long time and Brentano have been together for 25 years. So that's a very special concept, the string quartet."

The highly acclaimed Brentano String Quartet was founded in 1992. Since its inception, the group has graced the stage at some of the world's most prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York; the Library of Congress in Washington; the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; the Konzerthaus in Vienna; Suntory Hall in Tokyo; and the Sydney Opera House. The Quartet was featured in its first European tour in 1997, and since has performed worldwide, performing all over the United States and Canada, in Europe, Japan and Australia. They have also participated in summer festivals such as Aspen, the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, the Edinburgh Festival, the Kuhmo Festival in Finland, the Taos School of Music and the Caramoor Festival.

London Independent said Brentano String Quartet is "passionate, uninhibited and spellbinding," while the New York Times raves about its "luxuriously warm sound [and] yearning lyricism." The Times (London) notes that "the Brentanos are a magnificent string quartet...This was wonderful, selfless music-making."

The Brentano String Quartet features Misha Amory on viola, Serena Canin on violin, Nina Lee on cello, and Mark Steinberg on violin.

Tickets range from $10 (for students) to $50.
