The Circle Small Works Exhibit 2016 at Alex Ferrone Gallery will feature 50 photographic works that depict how the circle plays an integral role in composition, form, design, and/or subject matter of the image. This exhibition, juried by art critic Charles A. Riley II, PhD, highlights 30 national artists. Each work is sized 14 inches or smaller and is available for purchase. The Circle will debut on Saturday, November 26th and remain on view through February 12, 2017.

Alex Ferrone Gallery will hold an artists' reception on Small Business Saturday (November 26th) from 6 to 8 p.m. Open to the public, the celebration will include the presentation of four exhibit awards to honorees. Guests will enjoy light bites and wine from Clovis Point Vineyards throughout the evening.

"The deeper I waded into the pool of images submitted, I further realized that the circle is more than a symbol, iconographic element, geometric figure or schematic guide to composition," noted Dr. Riley. "It has the archetypal depth that reaches beyond abstract thought to an original pattern - a natural sense of order that is pervasive in the exhibition of an admirable variety of styles of the selected works."

Charles A. Riley II, PhD is an art critic, curator, professor, and author who has published 31 books on art, cultural history, and media. Some of his works include The Jazz Age in France, The Saints of Modern Art, Color Codes, and, The Arts in the World Economy.
