On Saturday, July 16th, Southampton Arts Center will host Bohème to Broadway, starring soprano Melissa Zapin with Willy Falk, accompanied by Konstantin Soukhovetski.

"My dear friend Willy Falk is a Tony Award-nominated Broadway star, and I am a Soprano. We were invited to perform at Feinstein's in New York City, so wanted to create a show combined the best of both genres -- one that appealed to opera lovers, Broadway lovers and everyone in between -- and Bohème to Broadway was born," explained Melissa Zapin. "Before we knew it, we had a sell-out crowd for our limited engagement, and were invited to perform the show all over the country (of course, tweaking it a bit for each city along the way)."

The evening will feature classics like Nessun Dorma from the opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, The Prayer, a popular song written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis (most commonly known as a duet between Cèline Dion and Andrea Bocelli), and I Dreamed a Dream and Bring Him Home from Les Misérables. Addtionally, the concert will showcase a piano solo compilation by Konstantin Soukhovetski from La Bohème written by Giacomo Puccini.

Zapin is absolutely pleased to bring the performance to the East End. "For ages, I'd wanted to do a show in the Hamptons, where I reside half the year (but where my heart is all year round). My goal has always been to bring opera to people who might never go to the opera -- to introduce the genre to people who may not have thought they would love it or relate to it -- and at the same time, not just satisfy, but delight, opera-lovers," added Zapin. "To have the opportunity to fulfill that goal, and give back to the community I love so much, by performing Boheme to Broadway as a concert to benefit Southampton Art Center...I mean, I can think of few things that get better than that."

The concert will appeal to those that adore opera's favorite classics, Broadway's best, and more. "We are thrilled to partner with Beach Magazine again this summer, this time for a wonderful evening of live music," said Amy Kirwin, Director of Programs, Southampton Arts Center. "Fans of Opera, Broadway, and more will enjoy this exciting concert and will be thrilled by the talented musicians gracing our stage."

Admission is $50. The evening will start with a Pre-Concert reception at 7 p.m., and the performance will begin at 8 p.m.

Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, call 631-283-0967 or visit southamptonartscenter.org.
