Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery is presenting works from international and domestic artists Alex Vignoli, Christine Matthäi, and Scott Farrell in the new Abstraction Exhibit at the Cutchogue-based gallery. A combination of mediums was used by the artists to expound upon modest elements from mundane life to create pieces that are anything but modest or mundane.

Though varying at post-production processing, all artists begin with unique precedented land and cityscape photographs. Christine Matthäi's art is distinct in how she "conceptualizes further by merging her images with musings of words and poetry about the sea," while Scott Farrell exposes drama and humanity in his raw photographs.

"Alex Vignoli keeps his surrealist and abstract influences in mind as he connects physical movement and speed with his constant environments," explained Alex Ferrone, Director of the Gallery. "Christine Matthäi has become more meditative and spiritual as she couples poetry with her waterscapes. And, Scott Farrell has zoned in on pieces within his environment as he creates his classic abstractions."

On the three artists' growth and individual flares, Ferrone remarked, "The three artists we are presenting in Abstraction have each exhibited with us in the past. Since then, from continually living and exploring their medium, each has advanced their own creative vision, either by finding new perceptions that have taken concepts of previous series to new levels, or by becoming cognizant of, and aesthetically utilizing elements within their surroundings."

The opening reception for Abstraction Exhibit will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 6 to 8 p.m., where aesthetes and artists alike will have the opportunity to enjoy the gallery over wine and hors d'oeuvres. The celebration is open to all. Abstraction Exhibit will run through Sunday, August 7th.

On Sunday, July 17th, a free luncheon will be held in honor of an Abstraction Gallery Talk, where audience members will be able to hear artists discuss their work. RSVP is required to the lecture.
