Popular Hamptons Yoga Series Returns For Pre-Holiday Session

"Yoga allows for introspection and calm the perfect state to contemplate works of art, and evoke the creative process," noted program coordinator Amy Kirwin, Visitor Services and Museum Programs Manager at the Parrish.

With the holiday season here, bringing non-stop gatherings, entertainment, and sometimes stress, chances are you'll need a few pauses to step back and relax throughout the two month stretch. On Friday, November 20th, the Parrish Art Museum is presenting a pre-holiday Yoga & Dharma program led by Mary Angela Buffo, owner and director of Ananda Wellness and Yoga Center in Southampton.

Starting at 6 p.m., yogis of all levels are invited to partake in the class, which kicks off with gentle yoga poses and dialogue followed by guided meditation, and the evening concludes with a short question and answer period.

Yoga & Dharma sessions are designed, in part, to assist museumgoers in finding the ideal state of mind for taking in their surroundings at the Parrish. Buffo, who is a Certified Hatha Yoga teacher through Todd Norian, Kripalu, will use the featured artwork as inspiration for her message during Shavasana, the period of relaxation and rejuvenation after yoga. Attendees are welcome to embark on a tour of the Parrish, either before or after the class.

Admission is $10, but free for members, children, and students. Participants are asked to bring their own mats and blankets.
