Several Hamptons Villages Make "Forbesí" Most Expensive ZIP Codes List
Villa Maria, the former estate of shoe mogul Vince Camuto, which is located in Water Mill, is one of the most expensive houses in the country, according to Forbes.
Forbes recently published its annual list of America's Most Expensive ZIP Codes. With its seaside location, hot summer social scene, high end shopping, and spacious living options, it should come as no surprise that several Hamptons ZIP codes are featured in the top 100. Sagaponack is the highest East End village listed, taking the title of the 2nd most expensive zip code in the U.S., due to its $7,416,538 median price.
It was Atherton, California, where the median price is $10,564,038, which beat out the exclusive Hamptons area for the honor of America's Most Expensive ZIP code. Properties located in 11962 (Sagaponack) typically last 111 days on the market. To compile the list, Forbes used Altos Research's data on median home prices in the United States, which includes 29,500 ZIP codes, covering 95 percent of the U.S. population.
Water Mill, which has a $4,221,615 median price, earned the 18th spot. Altos Research found that a property listed in 11976 (Water Mill) lasted on average 148 days on the market. Wainscott also made the list at 21. Its median price is $4,148,077 and a listing's average time on the market is 141 days. Bridgehampton, where the median price is $3,992,269 and 102 days is the average time properties spend on the market, is another top 30 honoree, coming in at 26. Amagansett, which earned the 63rd spot, is the final top 100 East End mention. The median price in 11930 (Amagansett) is $2,693,654 and homes last on average 106 days on the market.
