"At Same Sky we offer a hand up, not a hand out and we do it globally," shared Francine LeFrak
, Founder of Same Sky. "We provide HIV+ women in Rwanda who survived the 1994 genocide, and women ex-offenders in Jersey City with the training and employment to hand crochet beautiful glass beaded jewelry."
On Friday, August 28th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Elements Fitness Studio is hosting a special jewelry trunk show showcasing Same Sky - Jewelry with a purpose. The cause-based trade initiative works to create employment openings for women fighting to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
"The jewelry acts like a ribbon that connects you to the women who make it and your purchase changes their lives," noted LeFrak. "For example, one Sky bracelet pays for health care for one year for a Same Sky artisan in Rwanda."
Same Sky has collectives based in Rwanda and the United States. They realize that while there is a need for employment in developing countries, there is also a serious need in the U.S. The organization taps
into the Same Sky Artisans' natural abilities to provide them with the training and tools they need to change their lives. The Same Sky Rwandan artisans earn 15 to 20 times the average wage in Sub Saharan Africa.

"I am thrilled to host the Same Sky trunk show event at Elements Fitness Studio in East Hampton," said Andrea Fornarola Hunsberger, owner Elements Fitness Studio. "I am passionate about the cause and truly believe that all women are all created under the Same Sky. I think our clients and community will embrace the cause and the jewelry, bring attention to Same Sky, and the importation work that they do."
All proceeds from the trunk show will support Same Sky. "100 percent of net proceeds are reinvested to empower more women," explained LeFrak.
