Mosaic Street Painting Festival Brings Memorial Day Weekend Family Fun To Downtown Riverhead

East End Arts is hosting their 19th annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival on Sunday, May 24th in Downtown Riverhead. From 12 to 5 p.m., attendees will enjoy a variety of activities, food, and music along Main Street and the Peconic River.

The annual celebration was inspired by Italian street painters, who created street chalk art dating back to the 16th century. The Memorial Day weekend tradition attracts almost 5,000 residents and tourists, of all ages.

On Main Street, attendees can find street painting, a fine arts and crafts fair with local and artisan vendors including Yan Yan Liang Jewelry and Valerie Doyle beach accessories, live music and performances, the Drum Circle, arts and crafts for kids, life-sized board games on the lawn, and more.

Those in attendance will most definitely not go hungry. There will be several food trucks including Beach Treats Ice Cream and Gelato, Sticky Waffles, J&L's Chicken, Fish, & Ribs, and Crabman Crabcakes.

Artists including MadeyRey, Mixed Company, Ryan and Sam Mancini, and the Fem Fire Belly Dancers will perform on the Riverhead Town Show Mobile Stage. Artists over 14-years-old can register for a free street painting squares on a first come, first serve basis. Squares will also be sold for $20 on the day of the event.

Admission to the 19th annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival is free. A rain date is scheduled for Monday, May 25th, from 2 to 5 p.m.
