Long Island Arts Organization Holding Youth Art Month Workshops In March

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, East End Arts
School is hosting a series of Youth Art Month workshops on Saturday, March 7th and Saturday, March 14th. The classes are open to children in grades 3 through 8. Each workshop is $10 and advance registration is required.

The series starts on Saturday, March 7th with Collage Inspired by Picasso
from 9 to 10 a.m. Students in grades 3 to 5 can create their own collage based on the work of Picasso. Colorful 3-D Paper Constructions
will follow from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The workshop, which is also for students in grades 3 to 5, will explore the wonderful world of relief and 3 dimensions with paper. Attendees will learn about the art of Frank Stella
as they craft their own creative three dimensional constructions using paper and other mixed media. The final workshop on Saturday, March 7th is Extreme Pointillism
from 12 to 1 p.m., for grades 6 to 8. Budding artists will work in the style of artist Georges Seurat to create a unique drawing of an object using plastic bottle caps and oil pastels.
The classes continue on Saturday, March 14th with Embracing Encaustic
from 9 to 10 a.m. The workshop for grades 6 to 8 focuses on the meaning of color and creating a non-objective encaustic painting, as students explore how lines, colors, and patterns express ideas or emotions. Marine Wildlife
for grades 3 to 5 follows from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Students will learn about the amazing marine animals that we find just off the coast of Long Island like seals, whales, turtles, and more. The workshop will feature 3D painting using recycled materials, and following the class, the artwork will be displayed in the Riverhead Foundation in the Long Island Aquarium. The Youth Art Month series will culminate with Mixing it Up with Paper Collage Designs
for grades 6 to 8. From 12 to 1 p.m., attendees will use a compass, ruler, and recycled magazine to create a one-of-a-kind geometric masterpiece.
