More than six hundred guests convened in Central Park on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 for the City Parks Foundation (CPF) annual gala at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. The event was co-chaired by David Barse, CEO of Third Avenue Management, David Moore, CEO of Moore Holdings, and Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center. This year's gala was a record success, raising over $1 million. The proceeds will benefit arts, sports, education and park stewardship programs, which benefit more than 600,000 people in over 750 of New York City's parks.

Each year, CPF presents the People & Parks Award to an individual who, like CPF, has committed themselves to enriching New York City's parks. Andrew Tisch, the Co-Chairman of the board and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Loews Corporation, received the 2014 People and Parks Award. Tisch became involved in CPF through his concern for the protection and preservation of his city's parks after seeing trash covering the fields on which his son played football. He has been a board member of the foundation since 1997. Past winners of the award include Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Durst Family, Bruce Ratner, David Moore, and Jean Troubh.

Through a series of performances by well-established musical legends and up and coming stars, the concert paid tribute to the Beatles. Some of the notable artists included: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Philip Bailey, lead singer of the legendary group Earth, Wind & Fire; G.E. Smith and his all-star band; Jon Batiste; David Broza; Paula Cole; Marshall Crenshaw; Southside Johnny; Willie Nile; Teddy Thompson. Taylor Barton-Smith produced the performance portion of the gala.
