A Hamptons mansion located on Further Lane in East Hampton has been sold for $145 million, making it the highest priced residential sale in the nation. Barry Rosenstein, hedge fund manager of Jana Partners, purchased the beachfront 18-acre estate.
The prime Hamptons real estate was the ultimate escape for Christopher H. Browne, managing director of Tweedy
, Browne Company LLC, and his partner, architect Andrew Gordon
According to the New York Post
, Brown passed away in December 2009, and left nearly his entire estate to Gordon. The property was sold without a broker, to avoid paying commissions.
The jaw dropping transaction would top the $120 million sale of a 50-acre Copper
Beech Farm in Greenwich, Connecticut.
If Rosenstein needs to borrow a cup of sugar, he could ask one of his notable neighbors like Jerry Seinfeld
and Beyoncé also reportedly purchased a home on Further Lane earlier this year.
