Village Latch Inn On The Market, A New Era Begins
Douglas MacKaye Harrington
For almost four decades Marta and Martin White have been the Innkeepers of the Village Latch Inn
of Southampton. On the market for $23 million, a new era will begin with the passing of the innkeeper's keys.
A Southampton landmark and venerable hospitality venue, the Village Latch Inn has been a destination for discerning travelers to the Hamptons for more than a century. It guests have included celebrity icons from the arts, fashion and finance, not to mention two Vice-Presidents, Al Gore
and Joe Biden
, as well as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
. For forty of those years the Whites have tended to their guests with charm and tender loving care, welcoming them to a hotel that is eclectic in interior design and filled with art they have gathered from their travels around the world.

sat down with actress, artist and innkeeper Marta White to talk about her years at the "Latch" and her love of Southampton and commitment to the community, which this year included donating her rooms to the Hamptons International Film Festival
to host visiting filmmakers and staff. Also joining the conversation was Esther Paster
of the Corcoran Group
who is the Real Estate Broker representing the Village Latch Inn.
