It's a show about a serious topic with a comical twist and former talk-show host Dick Cavett
Cavett will take the stage in a reading of Joni Fritz's new play "In the Car with Len and Blossom" on Monday, July 29, at 7 p.m. at Guild Hall
in East Hampton. The fictional tale examines what happens when someone goes from forgetting where their keys are to forgetting who they are. Proceeds will benefit The Alzheimer's Association.
"I like to do that sort of thing," Cavett said. "It's acting and it's such an entertaining sort of lively, highly readable sounding piece and I thought it would be fun to do it."
Cavett has never worked with The Alzheimer's Association. "Any work in that direction is good," he said.
, a Tony Award
and Drama Desk nominee is on board to direct the staged reading. Cavett said is looking forward to taking stage with all of his co-stars with "equal vigor." To prepare for this performance, he plans on reading the script through a few times before heading to Guild Hall, hoping for the best as he usually does.
The audience can expect "clarity of speech, enthusiasm on my part to do a good job for the playwright and just one hell of a good time," Cavett said.
