Looking to heat up your winter? Head to
Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on Saturdays to see local legend
Nancy Atlas light up the stage with a few special guests.
"We are so fortunate to have the extremely talented Nancy Atlas back again this January for the
Fireside concerts at
Bay Street," said
Tracy Mitchell, Executive Director of Bay Street Theater. "It's been an amazing partnership with her, her band, and her talented guest artists. And what a fun way to get us through these long wintery weekends!"
Atlas, a Commack native, now resides in Montauk. She grew up with "gypsy blood" and attended college at Cambridge University in England and Richmond College in London and Florence. After graduating, instead of coming back to the United States she bought a guitar for 60 quid on Portabello Road in London and has been rocking out ever since. Atlas and her band have been regulars on the East End music scene for many, many years. The
Nancy Atlas Project has also opened for several notable names, including
Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills and Nash,
Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams,
Toots and the Maytals and more.
The talented musician, who has been compared to
Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and
Sheryl Crow, is known for her sensational raw performances, remarkable songwriting, and "deep honey" vocals. Last year the band released
Cut & Run, its first new studio recording in seven years - which they celebrated with an epic show at
Stephen Talkhouse - of course.
When not on the stage Atlas enjoys the outdoors with her husband Thomas and her two sons Cash and Levon and her daughter Tallulah.
This year, the series will take on a new twist, as not only will each week feature a different guest, but it will also showcase music from a different American city.
