Two-time Grammy nominated Jazz pianist Hector Martignon
will perform with the Foreign Affair Quartet on the Terrace of the Parrish Art Museum
in Water Mill on Friday, September 7 at 6 p.m.
Colombian born and based in New York, Martignon has composed, orchestrated, produced, performed and recorded music across all genres - from classical to rock to jazz. He has worked on the scores of three Broadway musicals and five feature films, as well as arranged and performed segments of Ang Lee
's Academy Award nominated Eat, Drink, Man, Woman
. He has also released five solo CDs, his most recent Refugee
(2008) and Second Chance
(2010) were nominated for Grammys.
"I'm delighted to welcome Hector Martignon back to the Parrish with another world class concert on the Terrace," shared Corinne Erni, Senior Curator of ArtsReach and Special Projects. "As a master in fusing traditional Latin American tunes, European classical music, and Afro-Cuban jazz he will bring music to quietly enjoy or dance to."
For Jazz on the Terrace
, Martignon will be accompanied by the Foreign Affair Quartet with Christos Rafalides on vibes, Oscar Stagnaro on bass, and Samuel Torres on percussion. The group has performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's annual "The Next Wave" Festival and at other leading jazz venues in New York including Joe's Pub and The Public Theater as well as national and international venues.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. All summer concerts are free with Museum admission and takes place rain or shine. Museum admission is $12 and free for members, children and students.
