Music for Montauk's (M4M) 2017 season will wrap up with prodigious Indonesian pianist Janice Carissa, who has enchanted audiences at prominent venues like New York's
Carnegie Hall, Fondation
Louis Vuitton in Paris, Fryderyk
Chopin Hall in Warsaw, and the Sydney Opera House. The performance will be held at
Guild Hall in East Hampton on Saturday, November 11 at 2 p.m.
"There is an unbelievable energy in the performance of a young musician such as Janice, on the verge of major artistic identity, which perfectly matches the energy of a work such as the
Appassionata sonata," shared Miloš Repicky of M4M. "You're going to feel it."
The concert will launch with
Four Impromptus, D899 by Franz Schubert, followed by Enrique Granados'
Goyescas, which M4M says is a "ravishing sound world of highly ornamented pianistic fantasy." After an intermission, the program will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven's
Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57 (Appassionata), a "work of seething intensity and unbridled energy, it is Beethoven's expression of defiance against the tragedy of his imminent deafness."
Tickets are $20, and available online, as well as at Naturally Good (779 Montauk Highway, Montauk) and White's Liquors (771 Montauk Highway, Montauk).
M4M's mission is to offer "fresh and dynamic approach to classical music, for everyone." The organization presents classical music, as well as multi-media performances, dialogues and educational programs year-round.
Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. For tickets, visit www.musicformontauk.org.
