The Watermill Center
, an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities, will welcome its first group of Fall 2016 Artists-in-Residency. Alvaro Restrepo and his dance troupe, El Colegio Del Cuerpo, from Colombia, Noel McKenna from Australia, Tori Wranes from Norway, and Zeinab Shahidi Marani from Iran consist of the first group to be welcomed to the Center for the autumn season. Each artist will use their time on the East End - September 6th to 26th - to create collaborative works. The goal is to challenge the creative minds in their practice.
"We are thrilled to host yet another unique and international group of artists this September, which marks the 10th Anniversary of The Watermill Center's year-round Artist-in-Residence program," says Elka Rifkin, Director of The Watermill Center. "This diverse and accomplished group of artists will work on their specific projects, as well as interact with the local community through workshops, open rehearsals, exhibitions and artists' talks."

The Center's final International Brunch of the year will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 12 p.m. The event will begin with a one-of-a-kind performance by artist-in-residence, Tori Wranes.
The Watermill Center's year-round Residency Program works to provide artists with opportunities to utilize the art collection, archives, library, and grounds. The Center hopes to provide a workspace and a homey environment. The selection process for the Residency Program is not easy. A group of distinguished, international individuals comprise a committee that choose these well-qualified Residents. The current committee includes Kristy Edwards, Jay Sanders, Alanna Heiss
, John Jasperse, Robert Wilson
, and a few other distinguished members.
Alvaro Restrepo is a renowned choreographer and dancer, as well as the founder of El Colegio Del Cuerpo. Noel McKenna will have an exhibition of his recent works as well as paintings completed during his time at Watermill on Saturday, September 17th. Tori Wranes is a leading artist and vocalist, known for combining voice with multi-sensory sculptural environments. Audiences know very little information before her performances and Wranes keeps everyone on the edge of their seats. She will present her new work on Sunday, September 18th, as part of the International Brunch Series. Lastly, Zeinab Shahidi Marani is creating a new experimental documentary video installation that will debut on Saturday, September 17th at 2 p.m.
