Southampton Arts Center will commemorate the latest iteration of artist and curator
Paton Miller's exhibit, titled
East End Collected4 on Friday, March 31. The fourth annual group exhibition highlights the work of new artists from the East End. To mark its opening, a public reception will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., and this year's show will remain on view until late May.
"We are thrilled to have Paton return for the 4th year of the popular
East End Collected exhibition," shares Amy Kirwin, Southampton Arts Center Director of Programs. "It is remarkable yet also somewhat unsurprising that he is able to find new or undiscovered artists in the region who have yet to be included because there are so many talented individuals to choose from. We look forward to seeing what is sure to be another outstanding exhibit."
With this exhibition, curator Miller aims to celebrate this local community of artists, honor its collectors, and recognize the Southampton Arts Center as a home for East End artists and their work.
The 30 artists featured this year are Mary Abbott, Mike Ahearn, Hal Buckner,
Perry Burns, Eteri Chkadua, Bonnie Cohen,
Andrea Cote, Pierre Cote, Gregory Delahaba, James DeMartis,
Ellen Frank, Elizabeth Geisler, Kimberly Goff,
Elaine Grove, Michael Ferran, Sophie Howell, Dana Little, Steve Loschen, Kenny Mann, Mary Mattingly, Lindsay Morris,
Roy Nicholson, Shimon Okshteyn, Mickey Paraskevas, Julia Scheuer, Kerry Sharkey-Miller, Liz Sloan, Neal Thomason, Abigail Vogel, and Dan Welden.
As part of the exhibit, the SAC has scheduled curator-guided gallery tours for Sunday, April 8 and Sunday, May 20, the latter date being the closing date of the show. Additionally, there will be an Artists Talk on Sunday, April 29, which will feature five of the exhibiting artists and be followed by a question and answer session with the artists and Miller.
For children (and adults) Miller is teaching drawing workshops on Saturday, May 19. On the same day, Mambo Loco will perform a "celebratory concert" to mark the upcoming close of the exhibit.
