"The greatest love story ever" is coming to the Hamptons.

"Cinderella is a musical loved by everyone, young and old. In fact, it was my childhood favorite," noted Jayne Freedman, who is directing Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper, a Springs Community Theater Company (S.C.T.C.) production.

The S.C.T.C. version will feature an exciting mix of old and new. "Today, we are honored to portray Cinderella in a new light with this original musical written by Janet Vogt and Mark Friedman," Freedman shared.

Vogt and Friedman drew inspiration from the original 1697 French story, Cendrillon ou La petite Pantoufle e Verre. "We knew we wanted to preserve the classic elements of the fairy tale, but add a few special elements that would make our version unique," the duo shared in the Playbook.

One of the duo's updates is giving the audience a deeper look into the stepsisters' personalities - one is a foodie and the other is a hypochondriac.

"Even standing in the shadows of those other Cinderella giants by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Disney - this one stands on its own quite nicely," Fort Worth Star-Telegram lauded about Vogt and Friedman's iteration. "The structure of the script, which is built with quick, short scenes, is ideal for young audiences. This is a highly satisfying Cinderella."

The timeless tale revolves around Ella, whose father unexpectedly passes away, leaving the young girl to live with her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. Even though Ella is forced to tend the house all day, assigned endless chore after chore, she remains hopefully optimistic. When her evil family denies Ella a chance to attend the royal ball, her kindhearted best friend, a silly rat named Putterman (another update), and her magical Fairy Godmother step in and help ensure that Ella's dreams do come true.

Springs Community Theater Company's Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper will star Susan Conklin, Alicia Crimmins, Jack Crimmins, Vay David, Alison Fioriello, Toni Fioriello, Colin Freedman, Jayne Freedman, Michael Horn, Lindsey Sanchez, and James Zay.

"The songs and humor will surely leave you dancing and rolling in your seats with laughter. So sit back and enjoy the show, and please, never stop believing," Freedman added.

Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper will feature musical direction by Christine Cadarette, lighting design by Sebastian Paczynski, and set design by Diana Horn. Chris Randazzo will serve as sound engineer, while Barbara Mattson is producing the production.

Cinderella: The Tale of the Glass Slipper can be seen at John Drew Theater at Guild Hall in East Hampton on Friday, October 26, Saturday, October 27, Sunday, October 28, Friday, November 2, Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 4. Shows will take place at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets range from $18 to $25.
