Hamptons Film Series To Screen "White Christmas," "Toy Story," "Into The Woods" And More Over The Holiday Weekend

Looking for a fun excuse to leave the house over the holiday weekend? Get caught up on some of the latest films or let nostalgia set in with a classic.

Little ones will no doubt be entertained at East Hampton Library (159 Main Street, East Hampton, easthamptonlibrary.org) who is screening Cars 3 - the 3D computer-animated sports comedy-drama film produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney Pictures - on Friday, December 22 at 2 p.m. and Cinderella, the original version, on Tuesday, December 26 at 2 p.m.

Parrish Art Museum's (279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill, parrishart.org) "Friday Evening Family Programs" will feature Into the Woods on Friday, December 22 at 6 p.m. A star-studded cast, which includes Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Christine Baranski, Johnny Depp, and Billy Magnussen, take viewers on a memorable mash up of several beloved classic tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. Admission is $12, but free for members, children, and students.

Southampton Arts Center's (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, southamptonartscenter.org) Holiday Classics Film Series continues with White Christmas on Friday, December 22 at 7 p.m. The seasonal treasure follows singers Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (Danny Kaye) who team up with sister act Betty (Rosemary Clooney) and Judy Haynes (Vera-Ellen) to headline a Yuletide show in rural Vermont. When they arrive, they come across Gen. Waverly (Dean Jagger), the boys' commander in World War II, who has fallen upon hard times. The foursome hope to provide a holiday miracle by putting on a musical extravaganza that might just save Gen. Waverly's failing country inn. Admission is $5.

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center's (76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach, whbpac.org) World Cinema will highlight Lady Bird, with screenings on Friday, December 22 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 23 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 24 at 4 p.m. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, the coming-of-age story set in Sacramento, California follows a high-school senior (Saoirse Ronan) and her tumultuous relationship with her mother (Laurie Metcalf). Tickets range from $7 to $17.

The Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center's American Values series will continue with Toy Story with Academy Award nominated screenwriter Alec Sokolow. The free screening and discussion will take place on Saturday, December 23 at 2 p.m. at Pierson High School (200 Jermain Avenue, Sag Harbor, www.sagharborcinema.org). The Pixar classic tells the story of an assemblage of toys' remarkable adventure. Sokolow co-wrote the film, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He also wrote Evan Almighty, Money Talks, Cheaper By the Dozen, and Garfield.

Hamptons International Film Festival and Guild Hall will present Now Showing: a screening of The Square on Saturday, December 23 at 6 p.m. at Guild Hall (158 Main Street, East Hampton, www.guildhall.org). Directed by Ruben ÷stlund, the Palme d'Or-winner follows Christian, a contemporary art curator at a Stockholm museum who is looking to drum up some excitement about the museum's newest show. This leads to chaos as Christian gets caught up in a pickpocketing scam, resulting in an overzealous reaction and crisis of conscience. The film stars Elisabeth Moss, Dominic West, Claes Bang, and Terry Notary. Tickets are $12 to $15.
