The Sylvester Manor
Educational Farm continues its 2018 Concert Series on Saturday, April 14 with the Americana folk and bluegrass trio, Cold Chocolate. The Boston-based band will play two intimate house concerts at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the manor's music room.
"This Saturday we welcome Cold Chocolate, a young trio that fuses folk, rock and bluegrass creating their own unique sound and tight harmonies," said Kim Folks, Director of Programs and Community Outreach at Sylvester Manor Educational Farm.
Cold Chocolate is comprised of guitarist/songwriter (and classically trained violinist) Ethan Robbins, upright bassist Kirsten Lamb, and percussionist Ariel Bernstein. Robbins and Lamb met at Oberlin College, where they formed Cold Chocolate. In 2011, Bernstein joined the band. Between the three of them, the band boasts a master's degree in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory and a bachelor's degree in percussion for performance.
They have released three albums in total, the first dating to 2012 and the most recent having been released in 2016. More recently, the band released a video for their new record, which they played during one of their "living room sessions."
"This year we are broadening our musical genres to include not just traditional American Roots bands, but acoustic jazz, folk, some local legends songwriting rock and of course bluegrass," shared Folks.
These two concerts will be the second in the 2018 series, and the first shows of the spring. This is the third year that Sylvester Manor has had a year-round concert series.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online. Sylvester Manor recommends advanced reservations as seating is limited with only 70 seats per show.
