The Montauk Historical Society is pleased to present the first Great Eastern Music Festival on Saturday, September 16 at the Historical Montauk Lighthouse. What better way to wrap up the summer season than to celebrate with Grammy Winner Sarah Jarosz and other Americana and Bluegrass legends. The event will be headlined by Jarosz, Sam Outlaw, The Dustbowl Revival, and Seldom Scene. Listen to the classics while watching the idyllic sunset with 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and beyond. Gates open at 9 a.m., the concert will commence at 10 a.m. and run until 7:30 p.m.

The lineup includes "banjo wiz" Tall Tall Trees, Miles to Dayton, and Long Island bluegrass favorites, Eastbound Freight, and Buddy Merriam & Back Roads. The Save the Oceans Stage will feature performances by Gravity Jazz Quartet, Gene Casey, M2D Trio, Pluck & Rail, Bill Scorzari, He-Bird, Kirsten Maxwell, and Hank Stone.

"It's been a long-time dream of board member, Greg Donohue and The Montauk Historical Society to present a concert on the Lighthouse grounds," said event manager and spokesperson, Bill Ayasse. "The natural amphitheater on its North side makes it a perfect location. They would like to make it an annual event."

The Montauk Lighthouse was built from 1792-1796 and commissioned by George Washington in 1797. Today, the Lighthouse Committee of the Montauk Historical Society is dedicated to the protection, preservation, and educational development of this national historic site. There's no better place to hold this first annual music festival.

There will be plenty of food vendors and trucks available. To accommodate special diets, you may bring food into the venue in small, soft sided coolers. No glass, alcohol or hard coolers are permitted in the Festival.

Tickets are $65 for general admission, $25 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than six-years-old. In order to park in the main lot at Montauk State Park (aka the Montauk Lighthouse) and at Camp Hero State Park (shuttle provided), every vehicle will be required to pay the state parking fee of $8. This parking fee only applies during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no fee to park at Montauk Public School and Gosman's Dock (shuttles provided at both locations). Parking in all lots is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Montauk Lighthouse is located at 2000 Montauk Highway in Montauk. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit greateasternmusicfestival.com.
