Artist Jim Dine To Speak About 60-Year Career During "Friday Nights Live!"

Internationally renowned Parrish Art Museum collection artist Jim Dine will take part in the Parrish's next Friday Nights Live! on Friday, November 6. The live stream will commence at 5:00 p.m. Alicia G. Longwell, Ph.D., The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator, will moderate.

"It is indeed a great pleasure to present this evening with the artist Jim Dine, known worldwide for inspiring public works that have astonished and delighted generations of viewers," said Longwell.

Dine's work is currently featured the Water Mill-based Museum's outdoor exhibition, Field of Dreams."The Parrish is honored to present two of his most recent sculptures in the Field of Dreams," Longwell added.

The artist, who was born in Cincinnati in 1935, moved to New York in 1959. Along with Allan Kaprow, Claes Oldenburg, and Robert Whitman, he was a pioneer of the Happenings movement. He also played a vital part in the development of Pop art in the 1960s.

During Dine's 60-year career, his work has been highlighted in solo exhibitions in museums in Europe and the United States, including significant retrospectives at the Whitney Museum of American Art (1970), Museum of Modern Art (1978), and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (1999); the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis (1984-85), and National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. (2004).

The talk with Longwell will delve into The Hooligan and The Wheatfield (Agincourt), as well as Dine's latest projects and the trajectory of his career.
