After a success inaugural live-stream, the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will continue its Live from the Studio - a free live-stream art workshop series - on Wednesday, June 3.

"Our first live-stream art workshop attracted more than 70 enthusiastic participants and many shared their work with us on Instagram," said Cara Conklin-Wingfield, Parrish Education Director. "We're so happy to be able to continue providing the community and our members with inspiring workshops that are free of charge or affordably priced."

At 11 a.m., artist Eric Dever will lead the Collage and Assemblage class from his studio. The hands-on workshop was inspired by works from the Parrish collection by Louise Nevelson, Alfonso Ossorio, and others. Participants will learn about techniques and composition based on upcycled material. Class-goers will follow along and can interact with others during a live chat.

For the class, Dever recommends having items like wood scraps, small blocks, sticks, shells, small plastic toys, beads, buttons, and craft glue and spackle on hand. The surface can be created out of plywood or corrugated cardboard from boxes. Additional items that may be needed include a spray bottle, squirt bottle, or paint brushes.

Additionally, the Parrish is presenting Writing from Home, a creative fiction writing course led by Jennifer Senft. The 3-session writing workshop will commence on Thursday, June 11 and take place on Thursday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Presented via Zoom, participants will focus on fiction inspired by artwork in the Parrish collection. Admission is $75 for Parrish Members.
