East Hampton's Janet Lehr Fine Arts will celebrate the culmination of Haim Mizrahi's The New in Dynamic Abstraction with a reception honoring the artist on Saturday, May 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

In addition to fêting Mizrahi, the evening will include an on-site demonstration from the man of the hour himself.

The New in Dynamic Abstraction is a solo show that depicts the artist's evolution and his maturing of style throughout the past three years.

"The paint travels on its own behalf! I am a spectator, the hands on a spectator," the modernist colorist reflected.

Born in Israel, growing up Mizrahi took several specialized art courses at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Israel's National School of Art in Jerusalem. During that time he encountered works by Europe's avant-garde luminaries, including Kandinsky, Picasso, Braque, the Delaunays.

"I believe in devotion that is carried by images placed deep in our subconscious, in addition to 'helping reality carry the burden' of contemplations in the long process of creativity," Mizrahi revealed.

Eventually, Mizrahi immigrated to the U.S., where he settled in East Hampton and found another source of great inspiration, Pollock.

"I am aware of just about every ingredient that brings together this desire to live, and the willingness to cope with the desire, is the crown of my journey," Mizrahi reflected. "In short, I am a technique related artist rather than a subject related artist, and that is to say: talent and inspiration are a given and my complete effort lies within the process of accumulation and build-up of 'emotional layers."

His works often touch upon recurrent themes, such as creative energy, individuality and kinetic power. "My work stretches across many styles due to my detachment from rules and points of reference that speak for the journey of the great masters," Mizrahi says. "I value the energy that finds its self smiling through the end result," the artist adds.

Janet Lehr Fine Arts is located at 68 Park Place in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-324-3303 or visit www.janetlehrfinearts.com.
