The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton will debut Multi is the Media on Friday, November 30.

"Multi is the media exhibits a variety of works including photography, blown glass, assemblage, paintings and collage. Multi is the Media grasps the eclectic blend of subject matters and a plethora of art styles to stimulate the imagination," noted Andrea McCafferty, gallery co-owner.

The exhibition will feature works from Keith Ramsdell, Jim Gemake, and Bengt Hokanson & Trefny Dix.

Ramsdell, who works in black and white, finds inspiration from the sea, as well as the location of his work. He relies on long-exposure photography to capture minimal seascape washes.

The photographer began surfing at just five-years-old, and has always resided near and focused on the water. His two passions are often connected, as his camera and surfing gear are always close. Ramsdell splits his time between Amagansett and New York City.

Gemake, a self taught artist who was born and raised in Brooklyn, currently calls Water Mill home.

"Being a mixed media artist, I primarily depend on the found or discarded object to achieve the elements of color, shape and texture that are so important in my work," Gemake reflected. "By assembling the discarded objects into something new or different, there is a sense of salvation, of brining these objects to a new life and with a new meaning. Ultimately my work is about: construction (the object in its original state), deconstruction (the discarded object now torn, broken, weathered - i.e. not in its original state or condition), and reconstruction (as it now appears in my art)."

Hokanson and Dix founded Hokanson Dix Glass in 1996, originally entitled Boar Glass Studio.

"We create blown glass and mixed media glass sculpture. Or interest in glass as a medium stems from the visual purity of glass and its ability to both illuminate and define a form," they reflected. "These two dynamic interactions have always inspired us and made glass an exciting material for our explorations of color, light and form. These elements of glass: its clarity, its fluid qualities, its ability to capture color, pattern and texture, are all at play in each of our pieces."

Widely recognized for their unique blown glass forms and mixed media sculptures, the duo find inspiration from contemporary Italian and Swedish glasswork, urban graffiti, world textiles, and also nature's forms and color patterns.

"In much of our work, we are attempting to make, or capture, a moment in time when the glass, energized by its state of balance, or unbalance, its color, pattern, and form, expresses movement," they added.

There will also be a group show on display at The White Room that will highlight pieces from Alicia Gitlitz, Karen L. Kirshner, Phil Marco, Martha Mcaleer, Alyssa Peek, Cindy Press, Linda Sirow, CHO Yea Jae and Strosberg/Mandel.

An opening reception for Multi is the Media will take place on Saturday, December 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, December 30.
