, will highlight masterpieces from John Todaro, Cynthia Loewen, Frank Sofo
, Teresa Lawler, and Lynn Martell while bringing awareness to an East Hampton-based organization that is committed to addressing the local hunger crisis.
"The weekend-long exhibit will feature works by five East End artists in various mediums and styles, from realism to abstract reductions," explained Martell.
The pop-up art show will be on view Saturday, October 28, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and 20 percent of sales from the celebratory soiree will be donated to Share the Harvest
Farm, an East Hampton-based non-profit that is committed to taking action against the area's growing food insecurity. To do so, the organization grows its own quality produce, which it donates to food pantries and community centers like The Retreat
, the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center
, Senior Centers, and Affordable Housing Complexes. The bounty is also available for purchase at Share the Harvest Farm's Farm Stand, which is open seasonally and located at 55 Long Lane in East Hampton.
"Share the Harvest is grateful to the participating artists for their generous support of our efforts to provide high-quality produce for all East End families," expressed Jess Tonn from Share the Harvest Farm. "We're looking forward to a fun evening of beautiful art, lively conversation, good wine, and great organic food."
In addition to viewing the exceptional creations, opening reception attendees will be treated to a harvest celebration created by Share the Harvest's Chef Nick Zitelli that will include hearty appetizers and delicious light bites showcasing the farm's organically grown produce.
Todaro, a photographer whose pieces explore contrast, color, and patterns in nature, has had his work featured in prominent publications like The New Yorker
and Metropolitan Home.
Loewen, a realist painter, works in watercolor and vibrant acrylics. She specializing in landscapes and seascapes, and has exhibited widely on the East End and is also represented in galleries in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Carlisle, PA.
Sofo co-founded the Wednesday Group Plein Air Painters. The fine artist and children's book illustrator concentrates on the human form, beaches, and landscapes through a variety of mediums.
Lawler uses bold color in her glasswork that boosts light and texture to reveal nature's allure.
Martell, an oil painter and watercolorist, studied at The Art Students League of New York. Her oeuvre is comprised of East End landscapes that explore the four seasons
' distinctions and radiance.
