The 28 year friendship between interior designer Alexandra Hayden and art advisor/documentarian Joyce Varvatos has resulted in an art exhibit like no other, The Chaos Theory.

"Showing talented artists was only one of our goals when Alex and I decided to collaborate on a summer exhibition," Varvatos explained. "The other was to make sure we were having fun. By only asking artists we have close relationships with, the two goals seamlessly came together."

The Chaos Theory integrates works from a variety of artists in multiple disciplines that combine both order and disorder that reflects the curators' friendship throughout the years. The show explores the "threads of complexity, unpredictability and moments of joy" that every relationship experiences.

Featured artists will include Sante D'Orazico, Eric Fischl, Nir Hod, Julio Leitao, Liz Markus, McDermott & McGough, Adam McEwen, Steve Miller, Angel Otero, Enonch Perez, Richard Phillips, RETNA, Whisbe and Dustin Yellin.

The Chaos Theory revolves around the idea that order and chaos are not always opposed to one another and that chaotic systems are a mix of the two. To the outside world chaos may display unpredictable and chaotic behavior, but once you look deeper, you will discover that there is actually order within the inner workings that allow all of these things to happen.

The Chaos Theory will open at 112 Hampton Road in Sag Harbor on Thursday, August 24 and remain on view through Columbus Day. The East End community will have two opportunities to celebrate this exhibition. The first is on Thursday, August 24, from 6 to 9 p.m., and a second opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 26, from 5 to 8 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds from the opening nights' will benefit the rebuilding of the Sag Harbor Cinema that tragically burned down in 2016.

The Chaos Theory will be on view at 112 Hampton Road in Sag Harbor. For more information, visit www.artsy.net.
