When Easter morning rolls around, the delight on little ones' faces as they discover their pastel, candy packed baskets is unmistakable.

This year, a group of remarkable young ladies assisted the Easter Bunny deliver that joy on Long Island. Last week several Girl Scout troops based throughout the East End arranged toys, gift cards, stuffed animals, seasonal sweets, and other goodies in festive baskets that were donated to The Retreat, the East End's only domestic violence services agency, for the children that are currently staying at The Retreat's shelter. On Monday, the gifts kept coming as the troops stopped by The Retreat again to drop off more presents, this time they were for the adults who are residing in the shelter at the moment.

"The creativity and generosity of the various Girl Scout Troops that put together Easter baskets for our clients and their children is so appreciated," shared Loretta K. Davis, Executive Director of The Retreat, about the annual donation. "It gives the kids a little welcome fun and the adults a nice reminder that many people whom they will never meet care about their well-being."

The Easter baskets and generous gifts will be given out on Easter Sunday.

"Girl Scouts pledge to serve others and help people at all times," added Yvonne Grant, President & CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. "The young women who donated the Easter baskets to The Retreat in East Hampton have done a wonderful job of exemplifying this promise. We are very proud of them."
