From Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th, the Parrish Art Museum
will be wearing its heart on its sleeve (or floors) as part of the Hearts for Art campaign. During the amorous weekend, visitors can help spread the love by picking up a paper heart at the Visitor Services desk and after carefully observing the Museum's collection, share their most adored piece by placing the symbol of affection in front of their favorite work.
"The Parrish is pleased to participate in this national art-engagement and social media campaign," said Tara Prout, Communications Assistant at Parrish Art Museum. "Hearts for Art, started three years ago by the Columbus Museum of Art and Oakland Museum of California, is an initiative that invites visitors to think more deeply about the works on display and gives them an opportunity to mark their favorites using the paper hearts and share them with the world via social media."
Once they've found their infatuation, museumgoers are encouraged to snap a photo of their art amore and post it on social media using #parrishartmuseum and #heartsforart. "We look forward to seeing which works our visitors connect with and to seeing all of the hearts throughout the Museum," added Prout. Throughout the weekend, the Parrish will even share some of its top social media picks.
Along with the Parrish, other participating museums include Baltimore Museum of Art, MD; Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY; Columbus Museum of Art, OH; Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, AR; Dallas Museum of Art, TX ; Denver Art Museum, CO; Detroit Institute of Arts, MI; Johnson Museum of Art Cornell University
, NY; Minneapolis Institute of Arts, MN; Oakland Museum of California, CA; Philbrook Museum of Art, OK; Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, CA; and the St. Louis Art Museum, MO.
