Bridge Gardens, a multi-purpose, multi-disciplinary outdoor classroom, demonstration garden, and community resource located in Bridgehampton, is hosting an Autumn Open House on Saturday, November 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The seasonal celebration will offer a myriad of family-friendly activities, such as scavenger hunt through the garden, fall-themed holiday table decorating demonstration with Richard Udice, live music by Jim Turner, entertaining crafts and activities for all ages, and light refreshments - including cider provided by the Milk Pail.

The afternoon will also feature the culmination of Where Art and Nature Take Flight, the Gardens' annual Birdhouse Auction.

"This fun event, featuring over 30 artists who have created one of a kind bird houses, is a benefit for the Peconic Land Trust," Kathy Kennedy, Peconic Land Trust Outreach Manager, shared. "We believe nature can be an inspiration for the artist, and this exhibition really showcases that connection perfectly."

Attendees may bid on their favorite Birdhouses, which are currently on display at Bridge Gardens, up until 3:30 p.m.

"With a wide variety of bird house designs - from driftwood sculpture and beaded beauty, to natural gourds, hand painted art, and even a repurposed mantel clock - there is something in the auction for everyone," Kennedy noted.

This year, participating artists include Scott Bluedorn, Sylvia Channing, Dan Rizzie, Terry Elkins, James Buttonow, Barbara Stype, Brian Kennedy, Carol and Ron Ahlers, Casey Chalem Anderson, Cynthia Wells, Heidi Rain, Joanne Rosko, Scott Chaskey, Summerhill, Susan D'Alessio, Suzzanne Fokine, Pete Treiber, Nancy Lynn Thiele, Janet Ollinger, Richard Udice, Randy Kolhoff, Kiki Boucher/Robin Drake, Gabrielle Raacke, Gordian Raacke, Patricia Wynne and Maceo Mitchell, Camille Perrottet, Rob Calvert, and Scott O'Hare.

"We hope the community will stop by, place their bids, and enjoy an afternoon of fun outdoor activities!" Kennedy added.

Admission to the Open House and Birdhouse Auction is free.

Jim Kilpatric and Harry Neyens donated the five-acre Bridge Gardens to the Peconic Land Trust in 2008. Since then the Trust, under the direction of Garden Manager Rick Bogusch, has upheld the characteristics of the gardens and also welcomed beloved new elements and programs that relate to the organization's conservation mission. The Trust's mission is to "conserve Long Island's working farms, natural lands, and heritage for our communities now and in the future."

Bridge Gardens is located at 36 Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton. For more information, call 631-283-3195 or visit peconiclandtrust.org.
