East End Pest Control Expert Shares How To Winterize Your Home

For those that have been dreading the colder months, now that the holiday season is upon us it's time to start thinking about readying for winter and winterizing your home.

When the temperature starts to drop, pesky rodents and critters - like spiders, crickets, and roaches - seek a shelter to set up their winter home, creating nests inside your abode, garage, pool house, shed, basement or any other cozy covered spots on your property. And, not only do they invade your space, they also multiply in the warmth.

Which is why Brian Kelly, East End pest control expert and owner of Twin Forks Pest Control, advises that fall is the ideal time to address potential winter pest control problems by preparing your home.

"We're strong believers in that prevention is better than a cure, in all we do," said Kelly. "It's important to take steps now to protect your home before those unwanted house guests make a home. It's a much better route to take rather than having an issue to address and control."

So, how do you keep those unwanted guests out? Kelly advises you do these five tips every autumn:

 • Block all entry points
 • Keep foundation plantings in control
 • Keep doors closed
 • Remove clutter, food and water sources where possible
 • Maintain landscaping
