Bridgehampton The annual "Heat" event, a benefit for the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital and Ellen's Well, will literally be "fired up" this year. Geoffrey Zakarian, Iron Chef and owner of the Lamb's Club, David Burke of Townhouse, John Villa of Tao and John DeLoach of Lavo along with Claudia Fleming, award winning pastry chef, formerly of Gramercy Tavern and now owner of North Fork Table & Inn, will host their own tables, all serving their signature creations on Saturday, July 28, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Local talent, joining them, will be Peter Ambrose, Peter Ambrose Events and Catering, Lucy Kazickas of Lucy's Whey, with an incredible array of cheeses partnered with breads provided by Saveur Magazine's highlighted "best", Blue Duck Bakery, the renowned Kathleen King of Tate's Bake Shop and Roxanne Browning of Exotic Chocolates, pairing tastings with Wolffer Vineyard's excellent wines.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Howard and Gayle Sobel at their waterfront home on Mecox Bay, the perfect backdrop for incredible food, hot DJ and specialty bars featuring celebrity mixologists. Honorary Chairs for the event are Katie Couric, whose talk show, Katie, will be launched in September and, Fern Mallis, founder of New York Fashion Week. Special guests include Edie Falco and Mercedes Ruehl and co-hosts for the evening are Karine Bakhoum, aka The Iron Palette and Luann de Lesseps of Real Housewives of New York. Event Chairs include Haley and Jason Binn, Hope Klein Langer, Lauran and Charlie Walk, Marcy and Michael Warren, Andrea Warshaw-Wernick and Joel Wernick and Samantha and David Yanks. The gregarious, fabulous Rosanna Scotto, Fox 5 "Good Day New York anchor", will serve as MC for the event.

Dee Dee Ricks, a breast cancer survivor and leading national patient advocate will be honored. Produced by Perri Peltz, HBO featured the premiere of "The Education of Dee Dee Ricks", last October, which chronicled her journey from diagnosis, through treatment and, finally recovery from, breast cancer. The Ellen Hermanson Foundation premiered the film, first, at Guild Hall in East Hampton, followed by a packed cocktail event hosted at the East Hampton, Michael Kors store.

Sunday, August 19th will feature the Seventeenth annual Ellen's Run, which begins and ends at Southampton Hospital. The support from these events are what allows the Foundation to perpetuate their important ongoing work; programs and services, which include the state-of-the-art breast center at the hospital and psychosocial services provided by Ellen's Well, in addition to an annual symposium in New York City which serves to update doctors and lawyers about breast cancer developments and issues.
