Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation's Annual Gala Honoring Two Community Members

Olivia Rutigliano

Celebrating Montauk's authentic generosity, The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation (MPCCF) will toast to Lisa DeVeglio and Roger Veit on Saturday, August 4 during the Foundation's 2018 Gala. The two honorees are inspiring residents who regularly donate time, energy, and resources to better the lives of those that call Montauk home.

Nancy Atlas and Friends, another Montauk staple, will headline the event, providing the musical entertainment, while Seth Herzog will emcee. The event, which will include a live and silent auction, will also commemorate the kick off of construction of the Cultural Arts and Aquatic Centers at the Playhouse.

"Our Gala helps support all of the operational expenses for our Foundation," noted Susan Henkin, Montauk Playhouse Community Center Executive Director. "We have made great progress toward achieving our fundraising goal and hope to begin construction of the Aquatic and Cultural Arts Centers at the historic Playhouse building this year."

DeVeglio is a founding member of the MPCCF's Board of Directors. She served as President for seven years and currently serves as President Emeritus. She has also continually supported the Fresh Air Fund and Freedom Fighter Outdoors, both nonprofits committed to organizing outdoor activities for underprivileged children and veterans.

For 18 years, she owned Willow, a boutique in downtown Montauk. She is currently driving the local school bus route, which she has done for the past 15 years with McCoy Bus Company. She lives in Montauk with her husband, Bob, known as Bing and has two grown daughters.

Feit is a founding member of the East End Foundation, an organization that offers financial and emotional support to those dealing with various illnesses or tragedies. Their annual "Rell Sunn Surf Benefit" at Ditch Plains has raised thousands for local families.

Feit is the owner and operator of Treewise, a company providing organic plant health care on both commercial and residential real estate. Roger and his wife, Beth, live in Ditch Plains with their three children.

"A community Center in Montauk will be transformative for all of Montauk's year round and seasonal residents," Henkin added.

Tickets to the 2018 Gala start at $300.

The Montauk Playhouse Community Center is located at 240 Edgemere Street in Montauk.
