The Neo-Political Cowgirls
and friends are about to provide an epic evening at Stephen Talkhouse
in Amagansett during the 4th annual Battle of the Fantasy Girl Bands Night fundraiser.
"The Battle of the Fantasy Girl Bands was the genius brainstorm of Holly Li and Christine Scuilli who are the tireless producers each year," Kate Mueth
, The Neo-Political Cowgirls Founder, shared. "It is a wonderful experience of the core mission of the Neo-Political Cowgirls, which is diving into the arts as catalyst for community gathering, addressing fears, empowering our voices and our creative resilience, and deep appreciation for the experiential power of process over product."
On Saturday, February 1, at 7 p.m., the "Night Raising Wild Hell" will feature a group of "bad-ass women bands" who will amuse the crowd with electric tune after tune.
"Every year it's been breathtaking to see how gorgeous this community is in coming together around this event to support the programming that NPC does on the East End," Mueth noted. "Whether the women making bands, the audience cheering them on, or the generosity of artists and businesses who donate for the box raffle auction, and of course Peter Honerkamp
and the staff at the Talkhouse! It's mind blowing, this kismet giving for a great cause."
As for what to expect, the evening will boast Battles, of course, a spectacular karaoke competition, special guest performance from spitnktn, and more.
"The funds raised go directly to serve the implementation of youth, girls and women-centered arts programming that create space for coming together, creative idea-sharing, leadership-building and coping mechanisms for the at-risk," Mueth said.
Admission to Battle of the Fantasy Girl Bands Night is $25. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
"Using the arts as an engine for supportive space-making and community-strengthening is one of the most direct and uplifting ways to create social change," Mueth explained.
The gathering will also feature dance breaks, audience participation, and a silent auction. Local legends Nancy Atlas
and Inda Eaton
will serve as the evening's MCs.
"It's heart warming to know we have so many people around us who care about this with us," Mueth concluded. "Anyone wanting to know more about the professional and educational work we do can visit our website at www.npcowgirls.org
and follow us on social media
. We have a lot of fun."
