The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center
(BHCCRC) will host its annual seasonal gathering at Topping Rose House
in Bridgehampton on Saturday, December 14.
"This will be our 5th annual Holiday Dinner at Topping Rose House," Debra McEneaney, Marketing and Development, Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center, shared. "It is a four course menu, created for us by Jean-Georges
. We will have a silent auction and terrific jazz trio this year too. We also have a Charity Buzz auction online."
The evening will commence at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction in the barn. Dinner will follow in the studio.
"The dinner is a critical part of funding The Center's programming," McEneaney explained.
Next year will be particularly exciting for The Center, as they move forward on a project that will allow BHCCRC to reach even more students. "Our new building is getting closer to a reality. We plan to break ground in 2020. We are looking forward to being able to offer our unique educational and enrichment programs to more children," McEneaney relayed.
"Participation in after school programs has proven to vastly improve a child's potential for success in the future," McEneaney noted. BHCCRC's after school program, which is held on weekdays during the school year, welcomes up to 36 children, ages 5-13. "Our children visit the Watermill Center
weekly for YARP- their young artists in residence project," she said. "In early December, they will be participating in two special workshops on filmmaking being offered at The Center by the Hamptons Doc Fest
Young Voices Program."
BHCCRC's programming encompasses a plethora of topics of interest, including a Scrabble Club - six of its members competed in the National Scrabble Championship their first year and took home 1st place prizes, a Chess Club, dance class, summer camp, music programs, homework help, culinary arts workshops, karate, collaborations with the Parrish Art Museum
and other cultural institutions, and more. "Our teen club, the DREAM team (Dedication, Responsibility, Education, Attitude and Motivation), are working on projects to build leadership skills," McEneaney shared. "They were able to attend Bay Street Theater
this fall to see the play A Raisin in the Sun
The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center was established "out of tragedy in 1949 when a migrant camp fire killed two children of seasonal farm workers." The not-for-profit serves the East End community, with a focus on the lower income African-American and growing Latino community. Its mission is to "deliver the highest quality educational and recreational programs to local children, youth and their families."
"The Center's college prep program offers one on one college counseling and guidance, along with our SAT/ACT classes. The Center is a safety net for our first-generation college bound students and their families," McEneaney added.
Admission to the 5th annual Holiday Dinner at Topping Rose House is $200 per person.
Topping Rose House is located at 1 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton. For more information, call 631-537-0616 or visit www.bhccrc.org.
