Southampton History Museum will host its annual holiday Hearthside soiree on Saturday, December 7. This year's seasonal gathering will have a special twist, as a group of talented professional interior designers and artisans have decked out several impressive holiday trees that will make the homes of a few lucky attendees extra merry.
"Southampton's finest designers are using their talents to create a variety of Christmas trees for our annual Heartside Cheer," Tom Edmonds
, Southampton History Museum Executive Director, shared. "The trees will be auctioned off during the event to raise funds for the Museum's many education programs."
Hearthside Cheer will take place at the Rogers Mansion
in Southampton, where there will be splendid sips courtesy of Herbert & Rist, fabulous food from The Golden Pear
, merry music, and the eye-catching collection of Designer Trees - perfect for those who feel like their tree is always missing pizazz or who just want to support a worthy cause. The historic Rogers Mansion, which was built during Southampton's Gilded Age, will be beautifully embellished, from the floor all the way to the ceiling, in celebration of the holidays. Samuel L. Parrish developed the 20-room Mansion between 1899 and 1933. It features ten period rooms, including a dining room, parlors and quaint bed chambers complete with fireplaces, all of which are decorated to reflect a home during the Jazz Age.
At the party, attendees may also view the Museum's High Style in the Gilded Age: Southampton 1870-1930
exhibition, which highlights women's glamorous ball gowns from that period, and the stories behind the women that wore them.
"Join us for a cheerful evening while supporting a good cause," Edmonds added.
Hearthside Cheer will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $65 in advance and $80 on the day of (beginning Friday, December 6 at 4 p.m.). Junior tickets (35-years-old and younger) are $35 in advance and $45 on the day of.
And, Hearthside Cheer isn't the only festive outing Southampton History Museum will present. Santa's Elves Workshop will also take place on Saturday, December 7. The free family program will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. The afternoon will include kid-friendly holiday crafts revolving around handmade ornaments.
On Saturday, December 14, from 1 to 4 p.m., the Museum will offer Candlelight Tours of the Rogers Mansion as part of the 27th Annual East Hampton B&B, Inn, Restaurant & Attraction Holiday Tour. Another chance to explore the Mansion when it is illuminated by candlelight will take place on Saturday, December 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. The reception will feature self-guided tours and light refreshments.
Organized in 1898 and incorporated in 1910, the Museum's mission is to "preserve and promote the history and culture of Southampton by engaging diverse audiences in our shared heritage."
