On Friday, June 17th, and Saturday, June 18th, The Madoo Conservancy will host its Sixth Annual Much Ado About Madoo. This year's event will commemorate Madoo's 50 years of organic gardening. The Sagaponack-based Conservancy was purchased in 1966 by artist, gardener, and writer Robert Dash, who described the property in A Walk Through Madoo as "an eighteenth century hay barn sailing above a hedgerow, in from Main Street Sagaponack." He relocated to Madoo in 1967, and that's when Dash started laying the groundwork for the garden.

"We're thrilled to be presenting the 6th annual Much ado About Madoo garden fair hosted by Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler in the magical setting of Madoo," expressed Alejandro Saralegui, Director, The Madoo Conservancy.

The celebration will commence with a Garden Cocktail Party on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening's Honorary Chairmen, Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan, will greet guests as they get a first look at Madoo's garden market, which will feature an impressive collection of vendors from the garden world. Jamie Niven, chairman of Sotheby's Inc., will also make an appearance at the soiree, wielding the gavel during a live auction. When partygoers need a break from shopping, they can stop by the Casa Dragones Tequila lounge for signature cocktails and to admire the 1970s raw wood bar from Wyeth. And don't miss prints created by Robert Dash and poet James Schuyler in 1972 that will be on view in the Summer Studio. Tickets are $150 for members and $200 for non-members.

On Saturday, the Garden Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees can browse through items from more than 25 distinguished dealers in rare plants, home and garden accessories, gourmet treats, fragrance and beauty collections and more. Hunter, Pennoyer Newman, Bloom, Madison James, Kent & Bond, Broken Arrow Nursery, Glover Perennials, and many more will be on display. Entrance is free for members and $20 for non-members.

Also on Saturday, guests can enjoy a Talk in the Garden Luncheon at 12 p.m. The conversation will feature Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, author of Green Metropolis: The Extraordinary Landscapes of New York City as Nature, History, and Design, and Catie Marron, author of City Squares: Eighteen Writers on the Spirit and Significance of Squares Around the World. Tickets are $100 for members and $125 for non-members.

The afternoon's final happening will take place at 3 p.m. Once Upon a Time at Madoo will include storytelling and music performed by a graduate trio from the Perlman Music Program. The event is geared towards children 4 to 8-years-old and their parents. Tickets are $25 per person or $100 for a party of four.

The remarkable Madoo Conservancy is located on an extraordinary 2-acre landscape set in the heart of Sagaponack. The organization is committed to the study, preservation, and enhancement of Madoo, the ever changing, horticulturally diverse garden with historic structures.
