Claudio's In Greenport To Remain Under Claudio/Tuthill Family Ownership

It was widely thought that 2016 would be the final season for the iconic Claudio's restaurant under the Claudio/Tuthill family ownership, as last year the Greenport restaurant's owners entered into an agreement to sell the business to Michael Barrett, who owns The Tippler in Chelsea Market.

However, it was recently revealed that the deal has fallen through and Claudio's Restaurant, as well as its sister restaurants - Claudio's Clam Bar and Crabby Jerry's - will reopen once again under the leadership of the Claudio/Tuthill family.

"At this point, many people know we had listed Claudio's for sale for the first time ever and have been actively engaged with an interested group for the last year or so. Those discussions did not end successfully," said co-owner Bill Claudio, "and our family has turned now to getting up and running for a fabulous 2017 season."

So, this spring, Claudio's, which was founded in 1870, will remain Long Island's oldest family-owned restaurant with Bill Claudio Jr., his wife, Janice Claudio, and his sisters, Kathy Claudio and Beatsy Claudio Tuthill at the helm. This marks the 28th year the Claudio/Tuthill family has been in charge of the North Fork staple.

"These businesses are as much our identity as our profession and we look forward to another exciting season," he shared. "If we could only turn back the hands of time, we would go on forever welcoming people to our door."

Diners will be able to enjoy seasonally changing menus that highlight locally sourced products from the area's farmland, vineyards and neighboring waters. Patrons will surely be pleased to learn that live lobsters and day catch specials will be offered throughout the entire season, and seasonal cocktails will be served at the trio of three restaurants, along with beloved classics like Claudio's Bloody Mary and the Clam Bar Rum Bucket. Claudio's Clam Bar also plans to offer a summer of live music featuring favorites from the Northeast.

"This period has allowed us to take a step back and really focus on what we want to see in the future of the property," shared Beatsy Tuthill. "We're looking forward to bringing some of those visions to life in the coming year."

Claudio's Restaurant will open for the season on Thursday, April 6th, with Claudio's Clam Bar opening on Thursday, April 27th, and Crabby Jerry's debuting on Thursday, May 25th.
