Kent Animal Shelter
is off to a busy start of the year. After closing out 2018 with a tremendously successful Holiday Matching Gift Campaign, which raised $44,000 in support of rescue and re-homing efforts, they launched their 2019 Rescue Campaign by rescuing 19 dogs from a high kill shelter.

If Kent had not stepped in and provided assistance, all of these animals
would have been euthanized. But, now that they are at the Calverton-based animal shelter, they will be privy to veterinary care, vaccinations, wellness tests, Spay/Neuter and microchips, and then they will await their loving forever family.
Kent also kicked off 2019 by holding a drive to raise funds for Kuranda ShelterBeds that was completed in mere days, raising enough for 25 beds within two days. Kuranda ShelterBeds not only provide a comfortable, safe resting spot, but the beds are also utilized during place training - aiding with socialization, which in turn can boost adoption chances and ease the transition to the adoptee's new home. Kuranda beds have been used in shelters, rescues and fosters since 1998.
"Animal lovers realized the need for the Kurander beds to keep our dogs warm and dry," said Pam Green
, Director of the Kent Animal Shelter.
Now that the old, worn out beds will be replaced with a comfortable spot for pups to relax, Kent is turning its attention to fundraising for six new Kurander cat trees.
"Anyone wishing to donate a cat tree can do so by visiting www.kentanimalshelter.com
," Green added.
The Kurander cat trees are $155 each.
Last year, Kent Animal Shelter - who is celebrating its 50th anniversary - saved the lives of nearly 1,000 animals in need.
