"For more than 250 years the Hallock Homestead has kept its dark secrets...until now," shared Beth Motschenbacher, Assistant Director of Hallockville Museum Farm
in Riverhead. "Let our professional storytellers take you on a haunting journey of otherworldly tales that lurk in the shadows at night."
On Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd, Hallockville Museum Farm is daring you to take one of their Spooky "Haunting Hallockville" Night Tours.
"Hear the hair-raising sobs of the broken-hearted Spectral Phantoms that wander the farm," noted Motschenbacher. "Encounter the ghost of the dishonest but Regretful Rumrunner, doomed by his own poisoned drink."
Gilbert, Curator of Education, who is also an actor, director, voiceover artist, and producer, is spearheading the 50-minute tours that will feature popular North Fork actors from the Long Island theatre community who will represent numerous historical characters throughout the family-friendly Halloween happening.
"True tales of a nineteenth-century axe murder and more ghostly encounters will send shivers down your spine," she said. "These and other stories inspired by local lore will be told in an entertaining fashion while visitors are escorted through the Victorian-period interior of the Homestead."
, Dave Markel, Alan Stewart
, Rebekah White, Rich Gardini, John Higgins, Philip Reichert
and Dan Becker are among the cast that will lead attendees on the harrowing Hallockville investigation.
The unearthly, spine-tingling East End exploration is appropriate for all ages that are willing to experience a night of spooks. "The Homestead will be decorated for Halloween, and the actors will be using props and period-appropriate costumes to assist in their storytelling," she explained. "This is a fun way to see the Homestead in a new light, while also learning about some of the more macabre local legends and other spooky occurrences that took place on the North Fork. What better time of year to share these tales than at Halloween?"
Tours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, rain or shine. Advance registration is required. Admission is free for children ages 10 and under, $10 for ages 11 and up and $8 for museum members.
Hallockville Museum Farm is located at 6038 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. To reserve a spot on the tour, call 631-298-5292 or visit www.hallockville.com.
