The Parrish Art Museum is hosting Atlantic Vibrations: Surf Movie Night, Vol. 2, an outdoor screening of noncommercial surf films at the Parrish on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 8 p.m. The films were selected by photographer/filmmaker Michael Halsband, artist Mike Solomon, and surf film producer/promoter Tyler Breuer.

Developed as an opportunity for up-and-coming as well as well-known filmmakers to display their work, Atlantic Vibrations recognizes the ageless connection between art, film and surfing. "The concept of a short surf film festival by regional filmmakers was developed last year after a discussion with Mike Solomon, an artist and surfer, about the connections between artists and surfing," said Curator of Special Projects, Andrea Grover.

Each selected short film is under ten minutes and ranges in genre from experimental to documentary in nature. The screening focuses on the work of local filmmakers from the North Fork and South Fork that include Nate Best, Frazer Dougherty, James Katsipis, Brendan Regan and Ingrid Silva.

Atlantic Vibrations: Surf Movie Night, Vol. 1 debuted last summer at the Parrish to a sold out audience. Due to last year's success, the program is being moved outdoors to accommodate a bigger audience. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for the screening on the Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane Foundation Event Lawn. In the event of rain, the screening will be moved to the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace.

Tickets are free for museum members, children and students, and $10 for non-members.

The Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For more information, call 631-283-2118 or visit parrishart.org.
